PROJECT MANAGER, MAJOR PROJECTS

Location : Manchester, Chester, York, Leeds, Newcastle

In line with our UK growth strategy we are developing our Major Projects capability and are looking for a Project Manager with a strong commercial and contractual mindset, who can lead Major, Multi-disciplinary Projects.  

 

Working with the UK Major Projects Lead, you will deliver Major Projects for the UK Region, fostering relationships with key clients, GHD Business Group Leaders and the UK Leadership Team.

 

You will be able to demonstrate a strong track record of complex project delivery, with experience drawn from a range of sectors including energy from waste, industrial, property and infrastructure.

 

Responsibilities in this role will include :

 

  • Leading on the delivery of Major Projects and Programmes to time, cost and quality, and in accordance with GHD process and procedures
  • Provision of first class, effective project leadership and direction to project teams throughout the design project lifecycle
  • Ensuring commercial and contractual aspects of the project are kept on track, resulting in profitable delivery.
  • Support Business Group and Market Leaders in market sector growth through the delivery of commercially successful major projects.
  • Deliver robust and consistent Project Management standards and processes 
  • Report on project delivery metrics, identifying and leading on improvements as required, and escalating relevant issues for resolution
  • Act as principal client contact for the duration of the project, building strong client relationships, arranging start up, review and feedback meetings
  • Work closely with your Project Teams to ensure client requirements are properly interpreted and reflected in the deliverables
  • Review and audit project management process and procedures on your projects to assist in improved quality and project performance
  • Ensure that your projects comply fully with all statutory and regulatory provisions.
  • Ensuring that for all your projects, Project Management Plans are prepared and adhered to throughout the project life cycle
  • Accountability for all commercial and financial matters on all your projects; regularly reviewing  and ensuring invoices are raised in accordance with the contract
  • Input to bids and proposals to ensure accurate Project Management estimates are established for bids & projects
  • Ensure project change control procedures are established and adhered to, leading in any change resolution
  • Resolve conflicts over resource allocation through discussion with other Project and Resource Managers
  • Ensure regular and effective communication with clients and project teams, and effectively manage any conflicts over resource allocation with other project and resource managers
  • Ensure all your projects are closed and archived and complete the lessons learned process
  • Exhibit a proactive safety culture on your projects ensuring that all staff follow safe systems of work procedures

 

What you will bring to the Team:

  • Degree/professional qualification in a related discipline
  • 5+ years experience of managing complex multi-discipline projects, with a strong prior track record of project management experience
  • Strong commercial acumen
  • Comprehensive and applied understanding of the application of NEC contracts
  • Demonstrated ability to lead Major Project bids and delivery
  • Strong communication and inter-personal skills, with the ability to form collaborative relationships
  • Proven track record of leading others and providing a constructive environment for the team to deliver and grow
  • Proven management capabilities
  • Technical and commercial background
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Proven problem solving and organizational skills
