Our office in Waterloo, Ontario is looking for an Intermediate Water Resources Engineer or Technologist to join the Integrated Water Management group. This opportunity can provide you with the ability to manage your own projects, develop your own clients and provide leadership in the growth of the team while assisting in the development of the business into other associated areas of work.


Our engineers, scientists, ecologists, analysts and resource economists design robust, cost effective and scientifically based natural resource management (NRM) solutions. We work with traditional owner corporations, companies planning infrastructure projects, watershed authorities, local government, land management agencies, planning authorities, legal firms, and urban developers.

Responsibilities include:

  • Managing storm water management projects for our industrial, municipal and residential/commercial developments clients
  • Directing, coordinating and utilizing junior technical and support staff
  • Preparing storm water management design reports, drawings, construction specifications and permit applications
  • Directing client, regulatory agency, and contractor interaction
  • Assigning work to junior staff, field staff, CAD staff
  • Coordinating and design of assigned water resources projects including design of stormwater management facilities and low impact development measures from review of preliminary concepts through detailed design and construction
  • Preparing budget and proposal cost and time estimates (i.e., PMP, participate in proposal preparation)
  • Gather information and provide feedback toward project-reporting metrics to ensure up-to-date informed status of projects from initial stages through delivery and final archiving
  • Coordinating projects with both Planning and Design departments
  • Producing related drawings using computer aided drafting and design software
  • Supervising and mentoring junior technical staff and support staff.
  • Preparing erosion and sediment control drawings and report coordination with the Design department
  • Collaborating closely with municipalities, clients and other approval agencies and assisting Project Managers in the pursuit of approvals and general coordination tasks
  • Participating in the monitoring of project schedules. Communicating pertinent project information to Project Managers, municipalities and staff assigned to projects

Skills, Competencies and Qualifications:

  • Post-secondary water resource engineering/civil engineering/environmental engineering education with specialty in water resources and/or storm water management
  • P.Eng or C.E.T. designation in Ontario for at least 4 years
  • Strong written and oral communication skills with proven experience in writing engineering reports and assisting/leading meetings with various approval agencies
  • Minimum 6 years’ experience in conducting storm water management projects
  • Familiar with conducting field investigations and assigning work to others
  • Experience with water resources engineering design including hydrology, hydraulics, storm water management, water balances, floodplain delineation, storm sewer design and drainage design would be considered an asset
  • Strong design and analytical skills
  • Ability to demonstrate engagement in projects, lead by example and are capable of simultaneously coordinating multiple projects
  • Must hold a valid driver’s license in Ontario and willing to travel within Ontario and Canada as required
